At Newcastle Airport a transformation is taking shape that promises to redefine our connection to the world. Our terminal expansion project is more than infrastructure – it's a story of regional aspiration and strategic vision.

Stage One of our airfield reconfiguration has commenced, paving the way for international capability. This initial phase focuses on creating more space for Code E aircraft and expanding ground handler storage capabilities.

What Stage One Means
The current reconfiguration work involves:
•    Setting the foundation for future international routes.
•    Enhancing our ability to handle larger, long-haul Code E aircraft.
•    Installing a new centralised storage area for aircraft servicing equipment.

Interim CEO Andrew Warrender explains, "These initial works are an important step in transforming Newcastle from a regional airport to an international gateway."

A Phased Approach
We're not just building an airport; we're crafting infrastructure that can adapt and grow. Each stage of our airfield upgrade is planned to minimise disruption while maximising potential.

This means that our airfield infrastructure will evolve in step with the needs of both domestic and international carriers. As part of a best practice approach, the phased timing also ensures the least disruption to existing operations during airfield upgrades.

The Horizon Awaits
On 1 August 2025, our international terminal opens – marking not an endpoint, but a beginning. A moment when Newcastle doesn't just connect to the world but invites the world to connect with us.

This is more than an airport expansion. This is our region's gateway to global opportunities.
