Parking will be even easier at Newcastle Airport with the launch of a new online booking and license plate recognition system.
The new systems will allow passengers to book their parking spots online from the Newcastle Airport website in advance of their trip, providing them with a stress-free travel experience. The boom gates will then open automatically on reading the licence plate of the vehicle, for quick and easy entry and exit of the airport car parks.
Newcastle Airport CEO, Dr. Peter Cock said the new booking system is just one of the steps the airport is taking to provide a seamless experience for travellers through the airport.
“We are constantly striving to improve the travel experience for our passengers. We have doubled our direct destinations to 12 in the last few years.
“With the construction on the new terminal about to start, it was the perfect time to roll out something that our passengers have been asking for.
“We are setting ourselves to be a step above the bigger and busier airports when it comes to the passenger experience,” Dr Cock said.
Access to discounts and special offers is only one way the online parking booking system will provide greater convenience and peace of mind for Newcastle Airport customers. The licence plate recognition system will also make entering and exiting the car park easier and faster.
Shane de Wit, Executive General Manager of Aviation, said the new booking platform is an exciting addition to the airport services.
“Not only can you book online, but when you get to the car park, the license plate recognition system will identify your car and lift the boom gate.
"We’ve heard our passengers and understand that knowing you have a space to park can be an unnecessary stress for travellers, especially during peak travel periods.
“With our new online booking system, we now have a user-friendly option that is easy to navigate," said de Wit.
The online booking system has a simple process that allows passengers to choose their dates, select their preferred parking option, complete their booking, drive up to the car park and the boom gate will open through the license plate recognition software.
The airport offers a range of parking options, with the new booking and licence plate recognition systems now available in the Short Stay, Long Stay and Long Stay Saver car parks. Passengers can book their parking, up to four hours before they head to the airport. Tickets will still be available at the gate for those who have not booked online or are parking for less than a day.
