Newcastle Airport is reminding photographers across the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid North Coast that time is running out to enter the Show the World Our Home photography competition, with entries closing at 11.59pm on Sunday 18 October.

Launched to coincide with World Photography Week and capture the joyful feeling of coming home, the competition has already attracted a strong response, with hundreds of images submitted capturing the landscapes, people, experiences and moments that make the region such a special place to call home.

Newcastle Airport CEO Linc Horton said the quality of entries received so far had been outstanding. "We've been blown away by the calibre of photographs submitted from right across our region," Mr Horton said. “There’s still time to get that perfect shot so get out and about this weekend and share the beauty of what you capture.”

The competition is open to photographs captured across Newcastle Airport’s broader region, from the Central Coast and Hunter through to Coffs Harbour.

Winning and shortlisted images will have the opportunity to be displayed throughout Newcastle Airport, featured across the Airport's digital and social media channels, and showcased in a dedicated terminal exhibition celebrating the beauty and diversity of the Hunter.

They will also be displayed at a number of locations across the region, providing community photographers with the opportunity to share their work with thousands of visitors and locals.

Photographers can enter across five categories:

  • Junior
  • Youth
  • Community
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • Aviation

A separate People's Choice Award will be determined from shortlisted entries by public vote.

Entrants are reminded that photographs must be original works captured by the photographer. Photos must not contain watermarks, logos or added branding, and AI-generated or AI-created images are not eligible for entry.
