Newcastle Airport is proud to announce that Paul McFarlane, our Head of Security and Operational Resilience, has been appointed as the Divisional Chair of the Australian Airports Association (AAA) for the NSW/ACT region. This prestigious role places Paul at the forefront of advocating for the needs and interests of more than 50 airports across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

Paul, who has been with Newcastle Airport since 2020, brings nearly two decades of aviation experience to his new position. His unwavering dedication to the aviation industry and commitment to maintaining safety and operational resilience have distinguished him as the right leader for this role. He steps into the position following the tenure of Nick Politis and is honoured to continue the impactful work done by his predecessor. "I have big shoes to fill and I’m truly proud to have been elected to this role. I grew up around airports and have been passionate about the industry from an early age," Paul said. "Airports, particularly in regional areas, continue to face a number of challenges in the evolving world of aviation, and I hope to use my experience to advocate for our members and provide a voice where I can."

As Newcastle Airport continues its journey towards becoming a global gateway with our transformational terminal upgrade, having leaders like Paul in pivotal roles ensures we remain at the forefront of regional and national aviation development.

We congratulate Paul on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to the positive impact he will have in his new role.
