Newcastle Airport operational update
Thursday, 19 March 2020
Yesterday, major Australian airlines announced significant cuts to services for both international and domestic travel.
Today, we have received further detail on how these changes will affect services in and out of Newcastle Airport.
At this stage, the majority of our domestic routes will continue.
QantasLink services from Newcastle to Brisbane return have reduced to 12 flights per week.
Jetstar has reduced its services as follows:
- Reduced the Newcastle - Brisbane return route to 7 per week
- Reduced the Newcastle - Melbourne return flight to 7 per week
- Cancelled the Newcastle - Gold Coast route in both directions
We’re seeking more information from our other partner airlines regarding their changes including Virgin Australia, FlyPelican and Rex.
We will provide updates as they come to hand.
We’re working to provide support where we can to our airline partners, including:
- Discussing options for parking aircraft not currently in use, and
- Providing feedback on local demand to allow for future route and network planning
As this is a constantly evolving situation, we strongly encourage all passengers to continue to check with their airline for the most up to date flight information.
Newcastle Airport is committed to minimising any travel impacts resulting from COVID-19.
We remind anyone travelling to or from the airport to follow the guidelines provided by the Federal and NSW Governments.
Ends.
